“My five-year-old son has trouble producing some sounds. He talks a lot, but I don’t always understand what he’s saying”

“My child repeats everything he hears on YouTube and TV but isn’t communicating with me. Whenever I ask a question, he repeats it back to me.”

“My daughter is two and isn’t talking yet. I’m worried that she won’t catch up.”

Hi, I’m Katia.

I am an ASHA-certified and a CA-licensed speech-language pathologist and founder of Katia’s Speech Sprouts. As a South Bay native, I love being able to provide services to the community I grew up in. I have worked in a variety of settings including schools, clinics, and in homes and have experience treating children with a wide range of diagnoses from remediating frontal lisps to supporting non-speaking AAC users.

While I enjoy working with all sorts of communication profiles, my expertise lies in the areas of complex speech sound disorders (e.g., phonological disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech), gestalt language processing, and early intervention. I am a life-long learner and stay up to date on the latest research and attend trainings to determine which intervention method best suits your child. Engagement with my clients is my number one priority, and I tailor each session to your child’s specific needs and interests.

Client Reviews

  • “Katia is one of the most kind, patient, and loving speech therapists we’ve ever worked with. My son was nonverbal and mostly used ASL, mumbles, and gestures to communicate. We had tried several therapists before Katia and saw little to no improvement.
From the moment she began working with him, everything changed. She met him exactly where he was and used the things he loved to make learning fun and exciting. Within just a few days we saw a huge shift in his confidence, body language, and he even started saying words.
She has a true gift with children and makes hard work feel easy and joyful. We are so grateful for her and she is worth every penny.”

  • “Katia is an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable speech therapist. She's amazing at meeting kids where they are and has a child-led, play-based approach, which makes her sessions so fun. She also takes the time to explain the "why" behind what she does. I can't recommend Katia enough!”

  • “Ms. Katia has a great way of engaging with my son through play while also making practice effective. He was excited to go to speech and practice. She was able to quickly identify the issue and ways to help with placement to make the sounds more appropriate. She did that through play that made the experience effective but also engaging and exciting for my son.”
